Rotobrush Love's ramm and I love rotobrush
I don't think I can talk enough about how awesome rotobrush is.
(I will first say that you definetly need ramm to make AE happy when you use it.)
What do you do when sponsers change from year to year? When there is something you just don't want to see? Rotobrush it out.
When I first started using rotobrush I had six gbs of ramm. (That's a little funny to think of that as a small amount) Rotobrush held in there and did what I asked it to do. It did take a long time, but it did one very important thing. It didn't quit.
Then I got up to 32 gbs of ramm to repay Rotobrush for all the hard work it did, with oh so little. I love you rotobrush. thanks for hanging in there whne times were tough
AE CS6 Raytrace Engine. first Thoughts
I have been eagerly awaited for my copy of CS6 to come through our doors at work. i can't wait to see the new layout for Premiere, AE, Photoshop and all the new toys.
The one thing that I hadn't really paid attention to and now I have gotten more and less excited about was the new Ray-Trace engine in after effects.
(I guess I should say that I always loved everything extruded) I just really like it when you spin an object you can see it as more of a full object. I used the explode feature to make 3d text a lot.
And then cinema 4d was thrown into my world and everything became clear. Ah ha! Now I could move around in that 3d world so easily. I could place cameras, create objects move in Z space, I could accurately measure the distance between objects in real dimensions. It was the tool I have been looking for for a while.
So when I heard that After effects was going to be able to actually extrude files now, that got me excited. So I started reading everything I could about it and what was to come.
Then the wall was built right in front of me. Two big questions popped up.
1. My computer at work is a mac pro with the Radeon HD 5770 1024 Mb . Its loaded with 32 gbs of ramm and an ssd hard drive. (I LIKE IT ALOT) But is the Radeon going to work with the ray tracer? i saw the postings of people trying to use the ray tracer engine and it is not happy with most Radeon cards (I am not an expert. my word is not gold. Adobe is an awesome suite) Its easy to go tell the boss that we need new video cards, but do I want to? this leads me to my next question.
2. Am I still going to create 3d effects in other products? I think for the time being, the easy answer is yes. - for me, creating things in a real world environment, where I can say that this object is 200cm by 400cm is really nice. when you are working in the after effects environment your object could could be taking up +200 to -200 in z space. My brain doesn't like to work that way. i have tried and tried and I always do funny math all day long. (Its actually really fun when you have a producer hear and you are doing after effects math. They look at those numbers and glaze over)
So At the end of the day, Is after effects awesome. Without question. Is it the tool that every editor, regardless editing system, should know. But as far as the ray trace and doing all the cool 3d stuff? for the moment anyway, I'll wait...be patient..and see how it grows.
Thanks Have a great day
Updating, updating, updating
Fun times whe you are learning how to do web stuff. I can't imagine how anyone enjoys this enough to do it every day.
Post haste
I found this application when it was young and new. It worked perfectly then and works even better now.

When you open it it had projects and folders all set to use, but just by opening a template, you can add as many folders and temp project files you want.
This is definitely a five star app
Apologies
I'm sorry I haven't uploaded the presets for fcpx again. Still working on them. Thank you for your patience
